It’s 5:55am, the world is silent, I am not snoozing my alarm this time. I don’t know what lies ahead, but I know I am going to lace my hiking shoes and meet up with 3 other amazing women to explore nature’s trail.
As the sun rises, my appreciation for nature’s beauty rises. As the waves hit the shores, I immediately know I have found a place I will appreciate forever. Through gravel, beach sand, rocks, and grass we hike for about 7.7 miles appreciating nature’s beauty every step of the way.
Sunrise Hike
I’ve been hiking consistently for about 6 months now, but never tried a 7 am hike in winter. This wasn’t just any early morning hike, it was a breathtaking early morning hike.
At every turn the sky changed, the sun peeked through the skies, deer run across the trail, the warmth of the sun hit my face, the relaxing sound of the waves crashed against the rocks, and the beautiful sun rays hit the water.
Hiking at sunrise is now one of my favorite hikes. The 365 weekend adventurer challenge, which I signed up for in 2023 has motivated me to grab every opportunity to hike. It has motivated me to stay in the moment and appreciate the world around me. During this challenge, I am not only counting miles – I am enjoying each footstep on a trail, enjoying every conversation with other hikers on a trail, and embracing every cold breeze on my face.
If you ever find yourself in Long Island, don’t miss hiking at the Caumsett State Park on a sunny day, especially in the early hours of a winter morning.
Don’t forget to bring your warm jacket, gloves and sunglasses, and enjoy every hiking footstep.
Some things I’ve found helpful during this challenge:
